After the construction machinery leaves the factory, there is generally a running in period of about 60 hours (some are called running in period), which is stipulated by the manufacturing factory according to the technical characteristics of the construction machinery at the initial stage of use. However, at present, some users ignore the special technical requirements of the running in period of new machines due to the lack of common sense in the use of construction machinery, or because of the tight construction period, or because they want to get benefits as soon as possible. During the running in period, the machine is overloaded for a long time, which leads to the frequent occurrence of early failure of the machine, which not only affects the normal use of the machine, shortens the service life of the machine, but also affects the progress of the project due to the damage of the machine. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the use and maintenance of the running in period of construction machinery.

1、 Characteristics of running in period:

1. Fast wear. Due to the influence of processing, assembly and adjustment of new machine parts, the friction surface is rough, the contact area of mating surface is small, and the pressure bearing condition of the surface is uneven, which accelerates the wear of mating surface.

2. Poor lubrication. Due to the small fit clearance of the newly assembled parts, and due to the assembly and other reasons, it is difficult to ensure the uniformity of fit clearance, and the lubricating oil (grease) is not easy to form a uniform oil film on the friction surface, thus reducing the lubrication efficiency, resulting in the early abnormal wear of the parts.

3. Loose. Due to the influence of newly processed and assembled parts, heating, deformation and other factors, as well as excessive wear and tear, it is easy to loosen the originally fastened parts.

4. Leakage. Due to the looseness and vibration of the machine parts and the influence of the machine heating, there will be leakage at the sealing surface and the pipe joints of the machine.

5. Operation error. Due to the lack of understanding of the structure and performance of the machine, it is easy to cause faults or even mechanical accidents due to operational errors.

2、 Use and maintenance of running in period

1. As the construction machinery is a special vehicle, the operator shall receive the training and guidance from the manufacturer, have a full understanding of the structure and performance of the machine, and obtain certain operation and maintenance experience before operating the machine. The operation and maintenance manual provided by the manufacturer is the necessary information for the operator to operate the equipment. Before operating the machine, you must read the operation and maintenance manual first, and operate and maintain according to the requirements of the manual.

2. Pay attention to the working load during the running in period. Generally, the working load during the running in period shall not exceed 80% of the rated working load, and appropriate workload shall be arranged to prevent overheating caused by long-term continuous operation of the machine.

3. Pay attention to frequently observe the indication of each instrument. In case of any abnormality, stop the machine in time to eliminate it. Stop the operation before the cause is not found and the fault is not eliminated.

4. Pay attention to regularly check the level and quality of lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, brake fluid and fuel oil (water), and check the sealing of the whole machine. During the inspection, it was found that there was too much oil and water shortage, and the cause should be analyzed. At the same time, the lubrication of each lubricating point should be strengthened. It is recommended that during the running in period, each shift should add grease to the lubricating point (except for special requirements).

5. Keep the machine clean, adjust and fasten the loose parts in time, so as to prevent the parts from being worn or lost due to looseness.

6. At the end of running in period, the machine shall be maintained forcibly, inspected and adjusted, and the oil shall be replaced.
